Meet Teen Model's Newest Intern Olivia Boyd
1. Tell us about yourself. What’s your name? How old are you?
HELLOOOO my name is Olivia and I am Teen Model/Hannah Noelle Clothing Co.’s newest Public relations intern and I am so excited to be a part of this amazing company. I am 19 and I go to the University of Tampa, I am in the sorority Sigma Delta Tau and I love to play beach volleyball! I’m from northern Virginia, but am a California girl at heart because I spent some time there as a kid where I made my first memories… I love life and live it to the fullest, taking every opportunity that comes my way. I aspire to work in PR in the fashion industry and I am going to work hard as heck to get there. Lastly, I am so happy that I met Hannah, because were going to kill the game together and make so many fun memories in the process. <3
2. What does confidence mean to you?
Confidence to me is not being afraid of who you are and that means not caring what anyone thinks. To be confident you must take everything with a grain of salt, not take anything personally, and face adversity head on. To me, to be confident you have to know in your heart that you can get through anything and achieve anything because you are a strong and powerful force of nature.
3. What makes you beautiful? (And you can’t say you’re not, because you are)
What makes me beautiful, I believe, is my ability to radiate positivity and kindness from within. That’s what makes anyone beautiful. Being a good and kind person to all is the only way someone can be truly beautiful. I once saw a tweet that said something along the lines of “if you want to be truly beautiful, you must be kind. Otherwise you’re just pretty.. and that’s kind of like saying congrats on your face.” And I thought that was so true (and also hilarious.)
4. What does inner beauty mean to you?
Like I said before, inner beauty is about being kind and having a big heart. Being a truly genuine person makes someone so beautiful that people will gravitate towards them. Loving yourself is what inner beauty comes down to at the end of the day, because when you love yourself you open yourself up to loving everyone around you so much more.
5. If you have or have dealt with body image issues of your own can you describe them (as much you feel comfortable with sharing) and how you have overcome them?
Not that any self-image issues are not normal, but I just had very basic issues especially in middle school (middle school sucks) when I was really growing into myself. I had a lot of acne which made things really hard.. I felt like everyone was just staring at them all the time, but I overcame it by not caring what anyone thinks of me and just loving who I am on the inside, because that is what really matters… I cannot say that enough.
6. What are your words of advice for girls your age dealing with body image issues.
Just remember how beautiful you are, and don’t care what anyone thinks. I have always said this… you shouldn’t care what others think of you, because no one has time to think about you, because theyre too busy thinking about what other people think of them. It’s a waste of time, time that you could be using to do the things that you love and are passionate about and make you happy. Focus on the people in your life that care about you deeply and you will learn to overcome any body image issues you may have. Spend time thinking about those who bring you up, not the things that will bring you down.
7. How do you handle negativity on Instagram?
I just ignore it. When people are negative it is a reflection on themselves. Don’t let it bother you because small people bring others down to make themselves feel big.
8. What does "being your own kind of beautiful mean to you"?
Being my own kind of beautiful means being my weird, loud, dancing around my room by myself self! There is no better person to be than yourself. Everyone is so uniquely beautiful and I just appreciate that. I love my imperfections, because that is what makes me interesting. Being my own kind of beautiful means standing up for what I believe is right and not being afraid of who disagrees.
9. What’s your favorite fashion trend at the moment?
I have so many right now. I am super into funky sunglasses of any shape or size, I love the white boot trend, and I love how orange-yellow is so in right now. But trends don’t really matter to me all that much because I will wear what I want because I feel confident in it.
10. Who or what inspires you?
Sophia Amoruso, the founder of Nasty Gal, is a personal hero of mine, because she built an empire out of absolutely nothing. She strives to uplift women and lets everyone know we are not to be put down. I get a lot of inspiration from musicians like Jimi Hendrix because he is so funky, and The Beatles because they were absolutely before their time, and Kevin Parker of Tame Impala because everything he makes is so beautiful. All of their music has gotten me through very tough times and I am so thankful for that. I am inspired every day by my friends to be a better person, by my teachers to work hard for what I want, and by my family of course to love without limits.
Thank you so much for reading! I’ll be back soon with some fun stuff… I love you all and you are so beautiful.
